310 Cauliflowers were built from 1880 and the last was withdrawn in 1955. They were the first
LNWR engines to use Joy valvegear.
The kit is being developed in stages as a bolt-together high pressure live steamer, but an electric
version will be offered at a later date. The concept of the kit is that a modeller with no previous
experience of live steam and without an extensive workshop should be capable of assembling it using
just hand tools. The model has a level of detail normally seen on the better models in smaller
scales, but is engineered to a high degree so as to be robust and reliable in use. Those who
subscribe at an early stage will be given the opportunity to buy parts and sub-assemblies as they
are produced, at cost price. The complete kit should thus cost no more than £2,500. Once
complete, the price will increase in order to recover some of the set-up costs.
Already available are the complete machined cylinders at £290.
