Gauge 3 Running Gear

These components are from our range of kits and will help the scratch-builder.

 

Our running gear consists of laser cut steel W irons, dummy whitemetal leaf springs, working coil springs, cast brass axleboxes, etched brass keeper plates and 14BA screws and nuts, together with Slaters wheels. We have at least ten types of W iron, 3 types of keeper plate, etc. Any combination is £35 per set. All parts are also available separately:

W irons

These are all laser cut steel and of four basic designs:

Type 1) These have separate W irons which need to be soft-soldered to a crossmember (supplied), to which they locate with slots and tabs, or screwed through the solebars for which purpose holes are provided. Types available are:

Type 2) Ready-folded units supplied in pairs, bent into a U shape with no soldering required. Types available are:
RG7 RCH 1907 standard W irons Laser cut steel £10.00 per wagon
RG10 similar, but deeper, for larger oil axleboxes Laser cut steel £10.00 per wagon

Type 3) We supply some types as a pair for one side of a wagon, including the V hanger. These need to be soft-soldered with the same crossmember used in type 1, but then produce a simple and square 4-wheeled sub-frame.
